hey all.

I installed dnn 5.0.1, got it all setup and working through VS2008. I then added the site in IIS as a new website with no alias. When I viewed the site it gave me a blank screen, but I noticed the URL was http://localhost/DotNetNuke so I manually changed the PortalAlias table from localhost/DotNetNuke to localhost. I then went to the URL http://localhost/ and it gives me the error:

Redirect Loop.   Redirection limit for this URL exceeded.  Unable to load the requested page.  This may be caused by cookies that are blocked.

I dont block any cookies. Any ideas?

Check the EventLog table to see if an error is being thrown when you try to hit the site.

Hope that helps,

It's been awhile since I've setup DNN in a virtual directory, then changed to the root. It might be just as simple as DNN caching the old alias in memory on the server. I'd run "iisreset" from the command prompt and then try to access your portal again.

There was nothing of any worrth in the event log...but yeah your right about the IIS caching. I shut down IIS, restarted and voila!

Thanks folks for your help.

Hi,

I have exactly the same problem, but an issreset does not solve it for me.  I've not setup iis or dotnetnuke before, and had some trouble with the install, but when i got past it, it appeared to install fine.

When i try and go to the url: http://localhost/dotnetnuke_2/?tabid=37 in firefox, it gives me the url redirect exceeded message.

When i try it in IE6 it just continues to load indefinitely, with no page appearing.

The event viewer is showing a asp warning, which i am looking into seperately, as i'm not sure if it's related to this problem.

I'm installing 4.9 dnn.  Any suggestions welcome.
