Hello

I have a brand new installation of dotnetnuke 5.1. When I try to delete a portale in dotnetnuke i get this error:

DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Access to the path 'C:\folderofdotnetnuke\DfsrPrivate' is denied. ---> System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path 'C:\folderofdotnetnuke\DfsrPrivate' is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath) at System.IO.Directory.InternalGetFileDirectoryNames(String path, String userPathOriginal, String searchPattern, Boolean includeFiles, Boolean includeDirs, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path, String searchPattern, SearchOption searchOption) at System.IO.Directory.GetDirectories(String path) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) at DotNetNuke.Common.Globals.DeleteFilesRecursive(String strRoot, String filter) at DotNetNuke.Entities.Portals.PortalController.DeletePortal(PortalInfo portal, String serverPath) at DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Portals.Portals.grdPortals_DeleteCommand(Object source, DataGridCommandEventArgs e) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

I can't find a solution on this access is denied case. Someone?

please make sure that the user that is used to run the ASP.NET process (usually Network Service), has modify rights on the root of the dnn application and everything below

Hi, I know this thread is a bit old.  But I have the same issue and am concerned about granting access to DfsrPrivate to DNN.  That directory is used by fileshareing, DNN has no business in that directory.  Is it really ok to grant that access?

Thanks

Geoffrey,

you need to install DNN in the root of a web site or virtual directory and grant full file system permissions for it to ASP.Net account ("Network Service" by default).

Hi,

Thanks for the post,  I do have DNN in the root for the web site.  I use DFRS to fileshare across multiple webheads.  The DFRSPrivate directory (in 2008) is a junction to one of the Active directory folders.  it is a hidden, system directory.  I cannot think of any valid reason for DNN to be in that directorys (in fact, my administrator account is denied access to the directory too).  I think the delete process needs to ignore this (or any) hidden, system directory.   IMHO granting access to that directory is only going to lead to problems down the line.

 Jeff

Update: This will be resolved in 5.1.3, thank you Charles!   http://support.dotnetnuke.com/issue/ViewIssue.aspx?id=10756&PROJID=2
