After hours of debuggin' I finally found why the SQL part of the install was failing.

I have a stored procedure that performs an arithmetic addition, like this for instance:

Select foo + @foo as foo from bar

When installing, this procedure fails, because the '+' sign is seen by the code as a string concatenation operator.

Has anyone seen this before? If so how did you fix it?

Thanks a bunch!

You need to save the file with UTF-8 encoding. You can do this in Notepad, Visual Studio, and a number of other tools. If there's an option for UTF-8 w/ Signature, use that.

It's caused by file encoding. If your file is encoded as ANSI (used by vs.net as it's default), then arithmetic operators are reserved characters. Open your script file in notepad, and do a "save as" and set the encoding to unicode.
