Good day -

I am trying to install DNN4.0.2 in the following scenario.

Two load balanced 2003 sp1 standard IIS 6 servers
svrweb1
svrweb2

1 SQL2005 Sql express server
svrsql1

1 2003 sp1 remote storage server
svrstor1

I installed .net 2.0 after installing IIS on the web servers.
I've changed the web.config to support web farm and made the appropriate encryption/decryption changes. I followed the instructions on how to setup a web farm from the DNN documentation folder. I changed permissions on the TemporaryASP.net folder to allow the shared user rights to create a folder. Other than that it's all default settings.

I've configured IIS on the 2 web servers to use a UNC to the storage server connecting as a shared local user(uncuser). I can hit static pages in the DNN folder(http://svrweb1/dnn/404.htm) but as soon as I go to install DNN I get this error message:

Exception Details: System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Security.Permissions.FileIOPermission, mscorlib, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

Any help is appreciated.

Chris

Did you manage to get anywhere with this Chris, I managed to get a simialr setup to install DNN V3 and V4 by creating a code group in .Net config to set Full Trust to the UNC share. BUT... I'm still having a problem when its installed, I can't get any furher than Object not set to an instance... Unhandled error???

Yep. I posted this to another forum. I didn't sign any of my code but I needed perms for the UNC to carry upon installation.

Ok I figured it out. I stumbled upon this guide through a google search.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9e33ea25-666c-47fa-ac52-8d04785c4bd2&DisplayLang=en

It has info about running a web farm from a unc on page 12. I ran these two commands on the web servers which are located in the .net2.0 folder.

caspol -m -ag 1. -url "file://\\svrstor1\dnn\*" FullTrust

and

Aspnet_regiis.exe -ga svrweb1\uncuser
