Thanks Sebastian,

That is fantastic news for those of us stuck with legacy SQL 2000 servers.

I had the same issue.

When installing DNN on my colocated server i had this error all the time.
So i decided to try like i read on this topic, install localy to be able to debug. I was suprised the install was successfully when installing it localy.

To get it running on my server, i detached the local database, uploaded it to my server and attached it. Also uploaded the local web application to have the same on server. Manually edited the sql records in "PortalAllias" & "WebServers" to get the application working.

I still dont really understand what causing the problem on the server as both server and local system running SQL Server 2005 (no SQL Express)
But for those having the same issue and full access to the server, this is a workaround that seem to work perfectly. I have no problems now running DNN 5.1 on the server.

Server: Windows Server 2003 R2 + SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition
Local: Windows Vista Ultimate + SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition

I am having exactly the same fault with 5.1.1 community edition when using SQL server 2000.

Failure installing Database Scripts
Installing Database - Version 05.00.00...Success
Upgrading Database to Version 05.00.01...Success
Upgrading Database to Version 05.01.00...FAILURE ERROR: (see 05.01.00.log for more information)

Nothing in log file when I check.  the problem seems to be that we can't get past the buggy 05.01.00.  I've tried changing permissions on the temp file but this didn't make any difference.
