HI all,

I have a localhost site running on the same DNN version as my hosted site. I decided it was time to upgrade to Version 5 so I tried to upgrade my localhost version and had some problems.

The upgrade to 4.9 reported no errors however I am unable to login with either the admin or host account. I have tried the default passowrds for these accounts and the ones I set but nothing works. The strange thing is I can register new accounts and everything else works fine. When I did the upgarde I renamed release.config to web.config and copied over the connection settings and the keys.

Please can anyone think of what I might be missing, also do I need to follow the following path to get to versions 5.1?  4.8.4 -> 4.9.0 ->4.9.4 -> 5.1 or can I go stright from 4.8.4 to 5.1?

Thanks

you should be able to upgrate directly from 4.8.x to 4.9.4 - no manual editing of web.config is required!

whether you want to upgrade to 5.1 depends on your requirements. DNN 4.9.4 currently is the most stable version, while DNN 5 adds some new features.

Thanks for the info. I was always under the impression you had to use the release.config file and merge your changes when you upgarded your site. I just put the old web.config file back in and all is now woring again.
