 Hi,

I upgraded from 4.8.0 to 5.1.0 and now my database has grown from about 100MB to over 600MB and it continues to get bigger everyday. (The log file is well over 1GB and I have to truncate it often.) The offending table appears to be SearchItemWordPosition, which is taking about about 525MB. I have the standard modules installed, as well as ActiveForums 4.1. I've tried clearing out the search related tables and re-indexed the search from the Search Admin page. Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

(BTW, I looked at this post to determine the table sizes.)

I suggest to clear the search tables and re-index. How much content do you have, how many posts are in the forums?

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for the reply.

Actually, that's exactly what I tried.  I cleared the search tables and re-indexed.  But it just grew again.  It's now 800MB.  There are probably close to 4000 forum posts. Any other thoughts?

Norman

- Please validate, large content is not indexed multiple times.

- Validate the terms in Search items table and adopt stop words.

Hi,

I have the same problem - can I TRUNCATE the SearchItemWordPosition and associated tables?
