The Auto option has been disabled as the DotNetNuke Application cannot connect to a valid SQL Server database. You can continue to use either of the other two Wizard options and configure the Database settings at the appropriate Wizard step.

 Hi f.a.

I think the issue lies more in the formatting of the message (red color) than it's meaning. This is more of an informational message telling you that the "Auto" installation option has been disabled. That should be quite alright for you, since you're going to need to configure the database information as part of the installation process anyway. Try choosing the "Typical" option and completing the installation wizard.

Take care,

Ian

 Hey f.a.

Remember that you must first create your database before proceeding through the DotNetNuke installation wizard. I would also recommend creating a database user that only has access to the new database that you create. They should be in the database owner role (db_owner) but should not have access to other databases on that server.

So let's assume I've created a database in SQL Server 2005 and a user on that database server who is the db_owner. We'll pretend the information is as follows:

Server name: IROBDEV , Database Name: testing_dnn User Name: irobinson Password: testingdnn

I would then fill out the installation wizard as follows:

Select Database: SQL Server 2000/2005/2008 Database
Server: IROBDEV
Database: testing_dnn
Integrated Security: [unchecked]
User ID: irobinson
Password: testingdnn
Run as db Owner: [checked]
Object Qualifier: [leave blank]
