Hi,

After installing DNN 5.1.0. we have troubles with all modules using file uploading. I read some topics about our problems bu i'm not sure they are the same?

Example with the Tekst/HTML- module.
We created a head menu called News and below that a submenu 2009.

At page level:
All users have view persions for this page.

At module level:
On the page 2009 all users have view permissions and users belong to the role News have also edit permissions.
This works fine, the user with edit permissions can add/edit/delete content. But the same users could also change or delete the module settings.
This is not OK.

At file-system level.
We created a map news and a submap 2009. All users have view permissions at the map news and the submap 2009.
Users who belong to the role News have view and edit permissions, but they can't upload a new file from their own desktop.

Workaround:
When we give edit permissions on the map News and the submap 2009 it works fine, but that's not we wanted!
In our past DNN version 4.8.4. we don''t have this problems.

Solution?
What are we doing wrong or are this bugs? If so, are they solved in DNN 5.1.1.
Thanks for your services and all the good work!

Regards,
Jan Meffert.

Jan,

AFAIR this is a known bug in DNN 5.1.0, which will be fixed in DNN 5.1.1, please review the Road Map.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for your information. I have now downloaded DNN 5.1.1. and install it on our testserver. Some problems are solved but not all.
Please look at this example with the Tekst/HTML- module.

We created a mainmenu called News and below that a submenu/page 2009.

Permissions at page level:
All users have view permissions for page 2009.

Permissions at module level:
On the page 2009 all users have view permissions and users belong to the role News have also edit permissions.
This works fine now in DNN 5.1.1. Users couldn't  change or delete the module settings anymore.

Permissions at file-system level.
We created a mainmap news and a submap 2009. All users have view permissions at the mainmap news and the submap 2009.
Users who belong to the role News have view and edit permissions at the submap 2009, but that's not enough?
They also need view and edit permissions on the mainmap above, otherwise they can't upload a new file from their own desktop.

Workaround:
If we give edit permissions on the mainmap News and the submap 2009 it works fine, but that's not what we wanted!
Contenteditors are complaining they can't upload anymore. For us it's is a lot of work (5 portals) to set all the permisisons again.
In our past DNN version 4.8.4. we don''t have this problems, we only give view/edit permissions to the submap were contenteditors should upload their content.
Now it is possible to upload the content to the submap(s) above.

Advice/Solution?
Is this normal behavior or still a unknown problem? Do you have any advice or a solution?
Thanks again for your great support!

Regards,
Jan Meffert.

Sort of confused.

You are saying now that everything works fine (page = view, module = edit)... except users now cannot upload with the third party module? But they get the rest of the functionality.

If so the problem is now with the third party's module's design (previous issue was indeed 5.1.0 issue).

Unless I have this completely wrong.... in which case please start again and explain the exact issue now (not before) in concise terms.

Thanks..

Hi Alex,

Sorry for my long story.
Our problem is that users can't upload to the submap 2009 (example root/news/2009) if the file view/read permissions are only set on the submap 2009.
You also have to set file permissions to the map above (in this case news).
The problems are in all modules with uploadfunctions (included core modules)
Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Jan Meffert
