I am trying to make stand-alone environments for development, Test and QA of a DNN site.  It REALLY shouldn't be brain surgery...but I guess it iis. I have copied the original site into seperate directories, created the directory within IIS, and setup the DNS to point to the right directory.  I've modified the Web.Confg to point at the right database, which I cloned from the orginal database.

Now I navigate to the site.  MAGIALLY things arr re-directed to the production location..NOT GOOD!

Do I need create a new project within Visual Studio and add everything to it?  Do I need to recompile?

What have I missed?  What Do I Need to Do?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

Did you configure each one with an individual and separate portal alias?  E.g., http://myhost/DevPortal, http://myhost/QAPortal, etc.

The steps were:

(1) Create a virtual directory within IIS

(2) Copy the source code in to the directory

(3) Convert the virtual directory to an application

(4) adjust the web config file to point at a cloned copy of the database

(5) Insure that all permissions were granted

What is happening:  When I go to the local address (http:\\localhost\dnn.x.com) it becomes http:\\dnn.x.com.  Thus I believe the location is stored within the database.

I can tell that the local site exists because I can navigate to a TEST.HTM page.
