hi all, here is the case

I have made a site using 5.0.1 on my localhost, using slq2005. I upgraded the site to 5.1.1, all are working fine on the localhost.

I want to move the site to a web server IIS 7, with a live ip, and I can't  make it.

Here is what i did. I restored my dbase to the live server (sql2005). I created a new folder to the inetpub folder of the server and copied all my site files in there. I gave full rights to this folder. I edit my web config file so it refferences the new sql server. I go to the IIS manager on the server and I see my folder and I press 'Convert to application'. Then when I press 'Browse', instead of displaying my site, I see a page that says 'DotNetNuke Instalation Wizard - Version 5.01.01'.

What am I doing wrong, or what is the correct way to move my site to a live server (that I can physicaly operate)?

thnx in advance

you shouldn't need to convert site to application, simply install DNN in IIS web site root and make sure, not to enable impersonation in ASP.Net authentications. Besides you need to add new URL as portal alias, either before transferring database or by directly entering the data into database table PortalAlias.

hi Seb, thnx for replying.

can you be a bit more specific abt what I should do?

I have changed the portal alias directly in the sql table. I must inform you that i already had another site on that machine, ver 5.0.1, that is still working ok.

How exactly must i install dnn in IIS web site root? what file must i use?

could you maybe tell me all steps that i must follow?

thanx once more
