I am reading [1] repeating the steps in DNN5.1.1.
1)
What happened with Images module, I cannot find it?
2)
What happened with User Defined Table module.
It is not inside the list of modules though I see folders with such names.
What is its current name?
Why it was renamed? To confuse developers?
3)
Where is Contacts module. It is not in the list,
How is Contacts (re)named in DNN 5.x?

I think both the Images and Contacts modules have been discontinued.  Looking in the forums for the Contacts module, Sebastian notes,

Please be informed, that this module has been sunsetted some time ago and no further development will take place.

We suggest to use UserDefinedTable (aka form and List in DNN 5) instead, which allows you to create custom columns  according to your needs.

I believe the Images module has been replaced by the HTML module.

User Defined Table (UDT) has been renamed to form and List.  In his recent blog post on the subject, Stefen writes "We decided to change the name to 'form and List', pointing to the new opportunities instead of module's architecture."

Hope that helps,

What makes some modules to be "embedded" and the others to be optional, I wonder?

Image module has been renamed ~ 3 years ago to Media, allowing now to play videos and flash as well

UserDefinedTable has been renamed to form and List, because we felt, that this is more oriented to its use cases

Contacts module has been discontinued ~4 years ago, due to it's limited functions and being easily substitutable by UserDefinedTable/form and List.

"embedded" modules are developed as part of the core, mostly those are admin modules, which need to match the DNN version and cannot be uninstalled.
