I've had this up and running locally for 2 months... now when I try to open in browser with: "http://localhost/dotnetnuke5"  instead of my home page I get the install page "http://localhost/dotnetnuke5/Install/InstallWizard.aspx"... at the bottom of the page it says: The Auto option has been disabled as the DotNetNuke Application cannot connect to a valid SQL Server database. You can continue to use either of the other two Wizard options and configure the Database settings at the appropriate Wizard step."... I don't know if that is a hint that it's something to do with the database... I can't think of anything that has changed to cause this... any help would be appreciated.

I once faced this problem and the reason was that the SQL user (db owner of the site's db) had been expired.

Try (manualy) to connect to your sql server as this user. U will see if u r able to do so.

the issue is for sure caused by missing connection to the database. please revalidate connection strings.
