This has been driving me made for days now...please help.

I have a working DNN 4, SQL 2005 Express install working fine on my local PC.

When I try to export my database to my host using SQL Server Management Studio's Export and Generate Scripts wizards (SQL 2005 SP1)  I can move the database but all the IDENTITY coloumns in my tables are being lost (I tick the relevant box when exporting so that should keep the identity columns intact but it resets them).

Any help would be appreciate. How the hell does anyone move their database from local development to their host?

Thanks Mark

I am trying to move a database from a production server on discountasp.net to a local machine and having a hard time as well. It was easier in SQL 2000 on discountasp.net, you could simply use the export script. But with the improvements made in SQL 2005, there are problems with security settings that prevent the new backup features to work.

I had to use the script wizard to create the objects on the Production host, run the script on the target DB, and then run the export wizard to copy the table data.

BUT, after doing this, the site comes up with the pages created, but none of the module content.
Looks like some linkages between the pages and the modules is being lost.

Has anyone gotten a script with the right settings for moving between hosts for DNN 4.02 and SQL Server 2005 ?

Thanks, Jim

Detach the database from the development server and transfer the DB files to the appropriate directories (mdf, ldf) on the production box. In SMS, use the attach command to attach the transfered DB files.

I do not believe that my host discountasp.net, allows users to attach and copy db files around.
The trick is finding the way to move DB's between the host and development with the provlidges provided by that host.
Easier said then done!
