I've gone through the documentation forwards and back.  I've deleted and started my project over several times now and I still keep having the same problem with the 4.03 starter kit released on the 17th.   (I have no other versions installed.)  This is what I get everytime I try to build after starting a new project with the starter kit:

I've never had a problem like this with DNN in my last job and I was trying to show my new company how much easier and faster it is to build sites with DNN.  If I don't get this figured out, I'll come off looking like a fool when I know that DNN is the answer.

So far I've been able to resolve some of the errors by adding Imports to some of the pages, but no where in the documentation does it say to do this or what all the Imports and references should be.  I was expecting the new starter kit to configure all this for me.

I'm using visual studio 2005, SQL Server 2000 and the 4.0.3 starter kit.

Thanks in advance.

Were you ever able to get the solution to build?  I'm having the same problem.

Yes I was able to fix it but I felt so dumb after being so certain that I read all the instructions properly that I never updated the post to the solution.  Once I renamed the web.config to web.config, everything worked.  It references all the assemblies in there so once it recognizes the valid web config everything builds great.

I hope that helps.

Hi!

Have you guys soved this?

I'm having this same problem. This is caused by missing Imports at on the classes. I managed to get every missing Import except for the IsAdminControl.

Does anyone got this one to work?

Thanks!

Alex

This is an old post, but I'll respond anyway.  Like the previous post indicated, you need to rename "release.config" to "web.config".  I've made this mistake about 5 times already.  Bothers me everytime.
