I keep getting errors with certain user agents. This was just an annoyance before, however, now my zoom indexer has same problem.

This happened in 4.9.0 to 4.9.4 but in 4.9.5 my Zoom (wrensoft.com) indexer won't access the site. The event log is also filling up with errors for
UserAgent: Baiduspider ( http://www.baidu.jp/spider/)

UserAgent: al_viewer larbin2.6.3@unspecified.mail

Is there a fix for this?

I read that any useragent with words like bot or spider have this error. How can I fix this?

you need to edit browser caps file, AFAIR Joe Brinkman blogged about it some months ago.

I tried editing this myself (badly) ...

I asked Owen (his email is in OceanSpiders.browser file under App_Browsers how to fix this. He was very helpful and updated the file at his site:
http://owenbrady.net/browsercaps/OceanSpiders.browser.xml

You can either download the file which includes other updates or just add this code to bottom of file:
 <!--  Requested by John Barendrecht 10-03-09
  -->
 <browser id="ZoomSpider" parentID="OceanSpiders">
 <sampleHeaders>
  <header name="User-Agent" value="ZoomSpider - wrensoft.com [ZSEBOT]" />
  </sampleHeaders>
 <identification>
  <userAgent match="^ZoomSpider" />
  </identification>
 <capabilities>
  <capability name="browser" value="ZoomSpider" />
  <capability name="version" value="0.0" />
  <capability name="majorversion" value="0" />
  <capability name="minorversion" value=".0" />
  <capability name="xml" value="true" />
  <capability name="crawler" value="true" />
  <capability name="w3cdomversion" value="1.0" />
  <capability name="tagWriter" value="System.Web.UI.HtmlTextWriter" />
  </capabilities>
  </browser>
My site at   http://oasiscruise.com/ works with Zoom search engine. It's running DNN 4.9.5
