System.Web.HttpException: The type 'System.Web.UI.ScriptManager' is ambiguous: it could come from assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\1.0.61025.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll' or from assembly 'C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.Web.Extensions\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.Web.Extensions.dll'. I did the following when I had this issue and all is well now:

  1. Opened the Web.Config and Change all the references from "1.0.61025.0" to "3.5.0.0"
  2. Deleted the System.Web.Extentions.dll from the bin.

NOTE: If you are running DNN 5.x I believe you can do this from the Host > Host Settings page by select the link that updates you to the latest framework (cannot remember the exact text, but you will see it and know what I am talking about).

Hope this helps.

thanks

i should have thought of that

anyway, edited web.config and that problem disappeared but not have this one:

The entry 'asp:System.Web.UI:System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' has already been added.

for:

Line 162:      <controls>
Line 163:        <add tagPrefix="asp" namespace="System.Web.UI" assembly="System.Web.Extensions, Version=3.5.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" />
Line 164:      </controls>

which token is referenced earlier in adding the ScriptModule handler.

just not clued in this morning on what to think of to fix this stuff, thx

Have you tried removing it and seeing what if anything happens?
