I am new to DNN and will be doing my first install soon.

I am doing this for a non-profit club. They currently have a static-html web site and domain name. I will install DNN on a separate server (a new shared hosting account) and then will configure it and test it before moving to the new site.  During that time, of course I'll have to use an IP address in the URL to the new DNN site.

Once I take the old static-html site offline and point the domain name at the new server, I want all URLs for the DNN web pages to contain the club's domain name, not the IP address.  What would I have to do to DNN to make that happen?

Thanks.

Hi Steve.

It's more or less the same situation i have. My server is running at home and i pointed my domain with a dynamic DNS-Provider to my homenetwork.

The only thing you have to do is to add the domain www.xyz.com to the portal-alias list. For this login as Host, go to HOST-Portals and then in Advanced Settings - Portal Aliases. Here you can add it.

Kai
