The last few days i've been busy installing DNN 4.0.3 on my own localhost. Now i'v reached the point of howling madness. I struggled through manuals and downloaded all kinds of software. Almost every DNN website tells their users that installing is 'a piece of cake'. Including this one. I found out that this cake is just not right for me...

First i'd like to explain my intentions:
I want to install DNN on my own computer (XPproSP2) so i can test its functionality. No need for future live websites, just my own localhost.

What's needed to get DNN up and running on a XPpro machine?
Is there a manual available that describes the procedure to follow?

I think that loads of people will appreciate this information.

Read the Installation Guide that's a part of the docs. The piece of cake install everyone refers to is something that comes with experience. Everyone has problems installing DNN their first few times. As hard as it is to do, try to struggle thru the install. Most of the time, problems arise from skipping steps or putting in the wrong information.

If you have any issues, let us know; but please, puh-leeeease search Google, first. Nothing you will run into is unique. Everybody has had every problem before. Whether they chose to post about it or not may be a different issue, but chances are that you'll find forum and blog posts about any problem you run into.
