Hi

We are considering upgrading from Community Edition 5.0.0 to Professional Edition so I'm tryiong to get a feel for how easy this upgrade would likely be.

Has anybody experienced and problems doing this ? Does anyone have any advise/comments for me to consider ?

Thanks

Smeat

a migration in the direction FROM Community TO Professional Edition should be supported without problems by simply installing the upgrade package. For details, please contact sales@dotnetnukecorp.com.

Shouldn't be a problem as Sebastian says - if you want a rapid answer to your question however you should upgrade to 5.2.0 community first (any upgrade issues you find in community would be similar to that in Pro for the most part).

Thanks both for the tips.

I'm now thinking about the upgrade. The way I figure it I have a number of steps to follow:

On the test server:

  1. Backup application
  2. Backup database
  3. Install .NET 3.5 SP 1
  4. Check system works as expected
  5. Install community edition 5.0.2 upgrade
  6. Check system works as expected
  7. What next ??

Is there an upgrade installer from Community Edition 5.0.2 or do I have to uninstall the ciommunity edition and then install the professional edition ?

Am I missing any steps ?

Thx

Smeat

Sorry, Peter,

I haven't installed DNN PE yet, but it  consists of the same code with a number of additional providers and modules for licensed use, i.e. you should be able to upgrade to 5.2.0 (not 5.0.2!) CE, and next install easily PE extensions. For further details, please contact sales@dotnetnuke.corp.
