Hey all,

I have a DNN 4 portal that I installed and configured on an internal machine. Everything works perfectly. I uploaded all my files and had my database attached to an instance of SQL 2005 by my hoster, WebHost4Life.

I changed the connection string settings in the web.config and turned customerrors Off.

Now when I run my site, none of my page controls show up and I get "An error has occurred. Unhandled error loading module." What the heck? It's an EXACT copy of the files from the working machine! The menu loads fine, its just the modules set in the top/center content areas taht are buggering up. I can't login either (that one is hooped as well).

Any thoughts on why this might be happening? Are there some settings somewhere that associate with the original machine and need to be changed? Security settings of some sort? Help!

Thanks,

jf

jf,

Did you ever get this resolved?  I am having the same issues.  Everything installs on my hosting provider (GoDaddy) clean.  However, when I go to my portal I get the 'Unhandled error loading module' for ever module on the page.  I cannot even log in.  I am getting to the end of my rope.  Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Wayne

I'd suggest you try to install on your host instead of copying everything up there. I've seen things get messed up due to mis-configuration too many times. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it seems to be more of a headache than it's worth, in my opinion.

Hi Michael,

First sorry about my english. I´m new on DNN. Then I install the skin for my site, i´m assigned by error to the host skin on site settings, now i can´t see any content of the modules to edit site. The message I get is:

Unhandled error loading module.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.ModuleLoadException: Unhandled Error Adding Module to ContentPane ---> System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at DotNetNuke.UI.Containers.ActionBase.set_PortalModule(PortalModuleBase Value) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.ProcessActionControls(PortalModuleBase objPortalModuleBase, Control objContainer) at DotNetNuke.UI.Skins.Skin.InjectModule(Control objPane, ModuleInfo objModule, PortalSettings PortalSettings) --- End of inner exception stack trace ---

Did you tell me what I must do to restore the default skin for the host on DNN?

Thank you a lot.

Mafelandia.

I'm having the same error, but my installation works fine. The error pops up after loading a module I developed myself.

The module is successfully installed, and of course I've tested over a thousand times on my development environment.

The installation runs smoothly, without any error prompts. The module is just a simple view that contains an ASP:ReportViewer control.

Why does this happen?
