Hi Patrik,
From the error description it seems like either the website is not properly setup or the NTFS permissions are not granted for the portal creation, i.e. Portal 0.

What steps are you taking to setup your website and have you added the aspnet account will full control on your DNN folder?

Of course I looked for the rights (that is supposed here most in the forum ) but did you take a look at my screenshots?
The installation seems to be ok, the portal folder is generated.

But as I mentioned before a folder "dektopmodules" is generated an d a folder "modules" is needed.

No, and shame on me ... Would you believe it if I said that after seeing your screenshot's they were close to what I had envisioned?

I did notice that your screenshots show a DNN 4.0.3 install.  Did you install this after a failed 4.0.2 install (asking because of version shown in name of this post...).  If so did you start over clean with a new, empty database?

I am going to see if I can reproduce the errors you are showing and will post back my findings.

Well...I wasn't able to reproduce this error but I did document the steps I used to create a DNN 4.0.3 local installation. You are welcome to download this. It is under the Downloads section of my site, http://www.vandenbrook.com

I am having the exact same problem with a clean install of the 4.0.3 version.  It fails to create portal '0'  it says that access was denied.

I have very carefully checked the permissions and removed and did a clean install several times.

I have noticed that the DeskTopModules folder is being created and when I check its permissions it has the ASPNET account added with full control.  Which is what I would expect since DNN will need to create folders in there when Modules are installed.

However the ASPNET account is not being added to the portal folder so it can't create a new folder in it.

Why wouldn't it assign the ASPNET account to the folder?

I have yet to be able to install it after several hours.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
