Yes, I was going to try 4.1 once it is available. It's why I'm not too concerned about getting 4.0.3 to work at this time.

I may also do a test install at some point... but technically this intranet portal isn't exactly in production use yet, so I just make a copy of the SQL database, copy the original 4.0.2 folder, and then copy in the new files... so I always have a way to rollback.

Yes, the Windows authentication is for the AD users to log in. It is a seamless operation for them when they're already logged into a workstation authenticated on an IE browser and just logs them right into their page without them even knowing. I have group specific elements depending upon who you are so that people can access what they need to for web programs.

I had another 4.0.2 installation running locally on my machine using SQL Express, so I decided to try upgrading it too. That install worked flawlessly... I navigated to the page and it immediately ran the install script.

This differed from the other install... when I initially navigate to the page, I receive the aforementioned error... even though the URL says its trying to run the install script, I get the error. When refreshing the page to just the root URL, it comes up saying it's running 4.0.3... but since it never ran the install script, I don't believe it actually is accurate.

This would explain why after I haven't been to the page in a bit, it tries running the install script again.

I even tried shutting off my Windows authentication, but it resulted in the same effect.
