Sorry if I wasn't clear.

Install package -will contain web.config and all the latest modules

upgrade package -has no web.config and does not contain most module updates (so users can choose to upgrade core seperately from modules).

source package-  contains no web.config and needs to be compiled. Sometimes people download this, rename release.config as web.config and then deploy the whole solution (some sites like to have a copy of the source with the deployed website)

Upgrade package is currently the same as install packages, besides missing web.config and database.mdf. (does not apply to all previous versions)

source package is currently same as install package, contains no web.config, but additionally source of the dotnetnuke.dll and providers. In DNN 5.2.2, telerik.dll needs to be copied to /website/bin, in order to work properly without recompile and build.

This is not quite correct - the solution contains a post-build task which does the copying automatically for you.

sorry Cathal, I missed my last words, in order to be correct. I use to run source package as it comes on my dev sites, just to be able to dig into source code when needed for the support in the forums here.
