Hi,

I have a DNN 2.1.2 installation  that have worked fine for years. But yesterday it started to show the error:

"A critical error has occurred.
Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

when I have entered username and password and click Log In.

The banner and some of the modules are shown.

May anyone help me to solve this?

Can you provide the details as reported in the Event View under the Host menu.  This should point to what is now "unhappy" ... also, is the site hosted or supported by you directly.  If Hosted, you may find that you Host as updated something as part of normal maintainance.

Paul.

I get the error after pressing the Log In button. The banner and some of the modules are shown. And some of the menu - but not for admin and host. And I doesn't get logged in. :-(

If you have database access ... check to see if the Admin account is still there.  Try signing on with that account.

DNN V2.1.2 could run using an MS Access database. if you were using the Access database it could have been corrupted.

Is the site hosted? Do you have a backup? Have the hosting company restore the site.

Basically need addition information to help.  So please provide as much detail as you have.

Paul.
