 Hi,

I installed DNN community edition yesterday, it failed a couple of times during the installation. The failures had to do with the SQL Server. I already had SQL Server 2008 Management Studio on my computer and Vistual Studio 2008. So, i don't know if it checks to see if these things exists. I believe i had the latest services packs for these as well. In any case, it came up and asked for database server, name, sa password, username that connects to the database instance and password and also whether i want a new database or an existing one, yes that screen.  I entered a new database first, with new information. It failed saying that the database didn't exist. Then i gave it an existing database and it again failed for connection issues. Now, i could bring up sql server and using the same information connect and open up a new query window.  In any case, i have passed that point. I know have something on my computer with everything succeeding install except sql server part.  Is there a listing of all the files that the install is supposed to have put on my computer?  Is there a document that outlines this?

thanks!

As DNN installs itself there are only minimal changes within the DNN file structure, and no changes to external file structures.

You will find additional folders in the /portals folder, as well as changes for logs etc.  But not a lot of major files.

What i was asking is:  What is the DNN file structure? What files in what directories should be there. So, when i go to the web site localhost/<dnn directory>, it comes up.  i am getting an error right now and i don't know if the install failure is the cause of this.

You know the file structure from your downloaded installation package.

If you had an aborted installation, I would most likely recommend starting over.

Otherwise post the error that you are getting.
