 Hello Everyone,

I have a fully working commerical ready DNN application working on Win 2008/IIS7 environment locally.

Now I wanted to host it and chose fasthost (sigh!). (Host env is Win 2003/IIS7) After several days of toiling I still can't get it up. The error is;

This configuration section cannot be used at this path. This happens when the section is locked at a parent level. Locking is either by default (overrideModeDefault="Deny"), or set explicitly by a location tag with overrideMode="Deny" or the legacy allowOverride="false".

And it shows the '<handler>' section as the culprit. It's pretty clear that the hosting people have denied permission to use handlers. My question is whether there's a way around this? This is the first time I'm actually hosting a system and please bear with me if I sound trivial.

Thanks!

Uchitha.

Although it could be a problem with the hosting provider having locked the handlers section to changes, it is more likely that your DotNetNuke version is 5.2.0 or above which requires that ASP.Net 3.5 SP 1 is installed on the server.

Thanks Bill!

I contacted the hosting people and they confirm that .Net 3.5 SP1 is installed. Also they confirmed that the handler section is locked from root level and that can't be changed.

Is there anyway around this? (Before I try another hosting provider)

Cheers!

Uchitha.

If your host locked it down, then the chances of you being able to get around that are quite minimal.  I would consider looking into a DNN Friendly hosting provider.  ;)

Cheers,

 Hi Guys,

Like you suggested I have to let go of my current hosting provider and get back to finding another one. Does any one of you have any recommendations when it comes to DNN hosting providers in UK.?

Highly appreciate the help!

Thanks

Uchitha.
