I'm trying to install DNN (3.2.2) on my 1&1 Windows hosting. I've created my SQL database and uploaded all the files to the folder for www.purplerecordings.co.uk but when I go to the domain I get the following error even though all files are definately there (I'm scratching my head right now - makes no sense to me), I'm guessing it's a dependent file as it's not giving me the standard 404 but nevertheless it doesn't work:

Server Error in '/' Application.

The resource cannot be found.

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.  Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /Default.aspx

I've tried to install to www.purplerecordings.net/portal/ after reading posts about people having trouble installing in the domain root folder.

Is this likely to be an issue of my hosting, i.e. is it just not allowing the use of .Net (which my hosting does include and I have activated an "application" for my install directory too)?

Could this also be a problem with the 1&1 server configuration? i.e. www.purplerecordings.net is not in the root directory of my hosting, it's set up to point to a directory called "purple" in the root (as I host many domains)?

I've never used .Net so haven't got a clue about this sort of thing but I would love to be able to use DotNetNuke as it looks awesome but it just ain;t working!

Please help, would really like to get this site sorted ASAP.

I had issues trying to get it setup at the root, but they seemed to resolve themselves. Sorry I can't give you a better answer, but one work-around is to install in a virtual directory, add an alias for the root, and move the files from the vdir to the root. Kind of annoying, but this'll get you there.
