I have a dotnetnuke installation and website that was built in Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005. I need to move the installatation to a Windows Server 2008 running SQL Server 2008. The current documentation refers to only Server 2003 and SQL Server 2005 and I have repeatedly tried to move the installation using the old documentation and have yet to get the website to run. Has anyone performed this and if so, do you know where there is documentation on it?

Thanks,
John

John,
I have moved a dozen sites or so and not had any major issues. I'm unaware of any documentation, but perhaps it can resolved here.

What are the exact error(s) your getting? Are you running 2008 or 2008 R2? Are you copy the DB's from server to server? With logins? What type of AppPools have you setup on the 2008 box?

Thanks for the reply Chris.
I have Server 2008 R2. The way I am bring in the DB is by "Detach" and "Reattache" method. I don't have a problem bring it over, but it seems because the SQL login is already created in the Database, when I try to create it in the Security node, it says the login is already created.

Bring the dotnetnuke with the website over doesn't seem to be a problem, just the db.

The errors that occure when I go to my home page is very long and says something about the login not being able to execute certain functions.

Hope this helps.

I am running 2008 R2. The way I am moving the DB is by "Detach" and "Reattach". The login is coming with the db. I'm using the default app pool.

The error I get when I go to the home page states that the login can't execute a certain function.
