Hi,

I cannot find any instructions that explain how IIS should be installed so it can support DotNetNuke. I'm sure there are certain features that need to be installed but I'm not really knowledgeable with IIS to know how it should be installed. I haven't found anything using Google so far. The DNN site has many documents but they all seem related to DNN installation, configuration, etc.

Are there any instructions available that explain how IIS should be installed?

Thanks,
Rob

It depends on the Operating System you're using.
XP? Vista? Win7? Server 2003? Server 2008?

I am installing IIS on Windows Server 2008 R2. I believe the IIS version is 7.5 but I'm not sure on that. I figured the required features would be similar to Server 2008.

Is there any documentation for installing IIS for DotNetNuke on Server 2008 R2 or Server 2008?

I haven't tried on a 2008R2 yet, but i did it twice on 2008.

First you have to add the web-server role to your server and then you install dnn as an application (like in vista).
"Installation" is of course unzipping to a folder of your choide, setting the security right (Network Service full rights on this folder, subfolders and files) and then you select the generated application, choose in NetTrustLevel and change it to medium trust.

That was they way i made it running as desired.

Hope that helps.

Another chance for you is to search over http://searchdotnetnuke.com

Cheers

IIS 7.5 introduces a different security concept for the web user, please read here: http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryId/2420/Windows-7-Windows-2008-R2-cross-application-pool-isolation.aspx
