Hi,

I have followed all the instructions by installing SQL Express 2008. I have created my apppool. I did this by following the videos on DNNCreattive.

I launch the broswer and follow the instructions to the point where  it requestes "Configure Database Connection" I enter the correct details and then I get this;

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 15372
Message: Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server due to a failure in starting the process for the user instance. The connection will be closed.

What ever I do I cannot get past this point.

I can open SQL Management Studio and every thing looks fine.

I am runnning windows 7 32bit. SQL Express 2008.

Obviously I am getting very dispondant.

Can someone tell me whats going on. Thanks!

Regards
Colin.

try this...

or just Google for "Failed to generate a user instance of SQL Server", you should be able to find the solution for your situation.

if you try accessing the database via user instance (i.e. using file name in the connection string) you shall never touch the database with another tool like SSMS or make sure any attachment to the sql server has been cut off. If you create your own blank database to be used (you need a proper sql server account as well) use the classic connection string (even if running Express version).

Hi sabastian, I do apologise, but I really am not sure what you are saying. Perhaps it is lost in translation. Even if I create a new DB is still get the same error. Regards Colin.
