DNN is going to put me in an early grave! after the 9th attempt i finally have it installed. now i have the 404 page not found error for all the links on the portal page. file exist is NOT checked. anyone got any ideas? I'm running the latest build on w2k3. i must say that DNN is one of the hardest things i've ever had to install and the install itself is very very flaky. a lot of the time it crashed due to timeouts :( if i have to install it again i'm just going to switch to mojoPortal or maybe even learn php and just jump over to joomla

Check your portal alias entry.  If you have all broken links for everything but the home page, it's a good chance somehow you have setup a portal alias that doesn't exactly match the Url that you're using to access your site.

For the record I install a new DNN installation at least once a week and virtually never have any problems.  If you're having issues it's probably something to do with the way your environment is setup, or perhaps you're trying to use the source package to do an install, which makes things a lot harder.

i suspect you're missing some prerequisite (e.g. .net 3.5 SP1)  -in that kind of case I recommend trying out the web platform installer- http://www.microsoft.com/web/download... . It does a good job of picking up missing pieces (e.g. IIS/.net etc.) and resetting permissions.

Alternatively, the new webmatrix product is worth a look - http://www.asp.net/webmatrix . Charles blogged about it recently -http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/B...
