windows server 2008 r x64 / iis7 (7.5 maybe?)

i used the platform installer which failed and the manual instructions which failed. after installation i tried to browse site but get the hoplessly useless

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

not sure where to go from here.

database was created with no tables. website was www.domain.com and assigned an ip

browsing with the ip fails. i don't have any dns records yet for the site as this is all experimental. localhost fails, the ip fails, browsing from within ii7 fails....

looking for some hints.

i have confirmed that i am running iis 7.5. however there is no option for adding

IIS APPPOOL\WEBSITENAME

to say nothing of giving said user full control.

does anyone know how to add this user manually since the platform installer did not do so?

progress has been made....i am now getting this error

Parser Error Message: It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level.  This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.

Source Error:

problem fixed. i should not have specified a host name since i am only working with an ip address at this point.

moderators may decline to publish the previous posts....especially as it is a bit chaotic at this point.
