Dear Admin, I am new to website development and DNN is the platform, which I find useful and interesting to me.

I have downloaded DNN 5.05 and installation instructions pdf. I have setup IIS 5.1 on WindowsXP Pro with SP3 as required. But when I complete all the steps and try to access it thru brower, I always get a message "Failed to access iis metabase "

I am using MSSQL server 2008R2 Express version

Please instruct on this, how to proceed.

Did you make sure to have ASP.Net 3.5 SP 1 or 4.0 installed?

As Sebastian mentions, DNN 5.5.0 requires ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 but that's not exactly what the error message you are receiving means.

You have a permissions issue with ASP.NET I would recommend that if you already have ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 installed to re-run the installer.

If you only have ASP.NET 2.0 installed please install ASP.NET 3.5 SP1 immediately

You will want to check this thread out as the last 3 or 4 posts contains instructions on what command line string you need to run to fix ASP.NET and IIS permission issues.
