hi

I have been running a DNN 5.5 flawlessly on Win 2K3 x86 m/c with SQL 2008 for a while. We decided to migrate to a new server running W2K8 Std on a 64 bit machine.

I started with making a fresh install of SQL 2008 (x64 edition) on the new machine. Then moved the DNN database and files to the new machine over FTP. Went on to update the folder permissions on the new directory for 'Network Service' account. Also, changed the App Pool Account to use 'Network Service' account.

Here, it should work flawlessly.

However, I am receiving errors with no entry in the Windows Event Log or DNN Event Log. The DNN Shows the following error:
File C:\xxx\Portals\_default\\Logs\LogFailures.xml.resources
Error   Non-negative number required. Parameter name: value

The LogFailures.xml.resources file is empty as well.

Where do i being my investigations?

Cheers
Abhishek Kant

You should check to make sure the permissions are propagated properly

thanks for the quick response.

to take care of the permissions propogation, i created a new directory and copied all the files there. Provided the "Network Service" with Full Control access. then pointed the IIS directory to this new folder.

now, the website doesn't render at all. however, i do have some event in the Windows Event log - System as follows:
A process serving application pool 'Mxxx' suffered a fatal communication error with the Windows Process Activation Service. The process id was '2396'. The data field contains the error number.

In the Windows Event Log - Application, following 2 errors are recorded:
Faulting application w3wp.exe, version 7.0.6002.18005, time stamp 0x49e023cf, faulting module MSVCR100_CLR0400.dll, version 10.0.30319.1, time stamp 0x4ba1dbf2, exception code 0xc00000fd, fault offset 0x000118e3, process id 0x%9, application start time 0x%10.
and
Application: w3wp.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to stack overflow.

Seems like an omnious error. Any further ideas?

Also, am able to browse to static files in the directory.
