I just checked and downloaded the Documents files again. Even though they are marked as version 4.0.3 the actual download is for version 3.2.2 dated 12/23/05. Where the heck are the correct documentation files???

May be this is a SourceForge problem as they have not upgraded the files.

HELP!

As DNN 3.2.2 and 4.0.2 use a synchronized code base, they have the same funktion and most of the documentation is the same. Only for installation as well as developement of modules using VS2005 there are mayour differences, please refer to the Blog entries by Shaun Walker and have a search in these forums for details.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

Thankfully due to the hard work of one of the tech support people at my host Applied Innovations (plug intended), I am up and running.

IN the installation directions, there is a line of code that needs to be updated as part of the web.config file. The line of code refers to the location of the SQL server db, the username and password. However, the line of code is significantly different in ver 4.x compared to that which is described in directions for installing the 3.x version. The code referred to in the Version 3.x directions is below the new code and the old v 3.x code is now "commented out."  I was fairly certain this was the reason the app would not install since it was the only part of the installtion process that did not vibe with the printed documentation.

I honestly don't know how the tech folks got around this other than the fact that he knows a heck of lot more about coding than I. Maybe it is not a big issue for talent people, but for us mere mortals, it is very frustrating.

I understand this is open source and all voluntary and as such you have to be fairly proficient to figure out how to install one of these apps. I know because this is the fourth CMS  I've tried to install.

BTW, I searched in both the blog and forum for a solution before posting here, and found nothing related to this.
