I am helping a customer install the Community edition (05.05.01), and I am seeing some weird stuff. I get through the first couple of steps in the install wizard fine, however, when I get to the database setup portion, it just says "Installing Database - Version 05.00.00..." but never gets anywhere. I have verified that there is an open connection to the database (application name DNNCore), and the last thing that happens is a call to a stored procedure (getversion I think) that never completes. Eventually the connection drops (I am assuming a timeout). If I run that command against the database myself I get an error saying it can't find the stored proc.

I have seen this in both a production environment (with a non-local SQL server), and my testing environment (with a local SQL server and the user is an SA). Its almost as if the setup scripts never do their thing, when I watch the profiler while the database setup is running virtually nothing happens, and no changes are made to the database whatsoever. Has anyone else seen this or have any ideas?

It might be of note here that I did install the recent .NET security patches (KB 2416472 and KB2416471), however, these were only in the production environment, the testing server does not have these updates installed.

most likely there are read permissions missing for the sql scripts inside the sqldataprovider folder, did you make sure, the ASP.Net account has been granted full file system permissions for the DNN install directory?

Yes, in the production environment the application pool user has Modify (we run our app pools as domain users), in the testing environment the app pool runs as Network Service.
