Hi All,

This one has got me stumped. I have moved my DNN website to a new server. web.config changed to new database, files and database moved. I've also added the alias.

When I go to the site I get the install wizard. What am I doing wrong? I've lost hours.

Cheers,

Matt

there seems to be an issue in your connection string or database permissions. Please check carefully both connection strings need to be identical and make sure, Machinekey has not been altered by the wizard.

1) Can you double check DB is not empty? may be you forgot to restore DB at the new SQL server?
2) May be you have changed objectQualifier? And now DNN tries to make clear installation with new qualifier?

Thank you for all the quick replies.

Connection strings are identical. What should I be looking for with the MachineKey.

When you get that problem, 99% of the time your new database server is not configured correctly.  You should verify that the database login exists, that it is connected to a user, and that it has the correct security permissions.

If you have SA permissions, try running this command on your user:

exec sp_change_users_login  'Auto_Fix', 'username'
