I've downloaded DNN, provided the proper file permissions, and created website using IIS pointing to the appropriate DNN folder.  I am using SQL Express and have had no problem connecting to SQL Express through VS2010.

When I go to my http://localhost/dotnetnuke/ I do not get the "Auto" install option.  For some reason DNN is not finding/connecting to my DB.  I try to use the typical install and get this error.

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 15382
Message:

SQL Express is up and running verified through SQL Server Configuration Manager.

Thanks in advance for your help

Check your AppPool setup verify that the "Identity" account for the AppPool matches the account to which you granted permissions on the web site folder

I suggest installing DNN in a separate IIS web site instead of a virtual directory. You need to grant full permissions to the ASP.Net account, configured in extended settings of the IIS AppPool, you should select ASP.Net 2.0 integrated.

There is one setting that is important if you use the applicationpool identity.
Make sure that the settings in the advanced settings for the pool "Load user profile" is set to true.
(this is not the default value if you upgraded your machine from II6)
