I have installed ver 3.1.xxx on our production website, and once it is used the first time it works great. the problem I am seeing is the first person to the site after a period of time, it takes a long time to load up. Any way I can fix this??????

This is typical ASP.Net behaviour, as the Site needs to get compiled and the compiler output gets unloaded, if the site has not been touched for some time. use a service like www.host-tracker.com, to touch your site every quarter of an hour.

Sebastian is right, IIS is stopping all unused processes after 20 minutes by default.

If you have a W2k3 system running IIS6 you might consider tweaking the application pool of DNN. You can change the idle time or disable this feature at all.
