I am new to DNN. I have looked around the forums and elsewhere too to rectify the problem but to no avail. I would be grateful if you can help

I am running XP Pro, IIS 5.1, Asp.net 2.0.5.

During installation, I came across the steps to change the user permissions for the DotNetNuke folder for the 'IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool' user.I tried creating the user by going to properties, but the user was not found.

I ran 'calcs' at the command line to assign permissions. Did not work

I used the ASPNet registration service  aspnet_regiis -ga to grant permissions to this users like such from the 
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 aspnet_regiis -ga "IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool":F 

to give full control to the folder. The error that I get is this at the command line
The user 'IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool:F' does not exist.

What am i missing? I have reinstalled aspnet 2.05 since and the error persists...
Exception Details: System.Web.Hosting.HostingEnvironmentException: Failed to access IIS metabase. 

Help!!

DNN 5.1 uses "ASPNET" account instead of 'IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool'. if you want to use multiple sites on your local machine and install in the root, I suggest using free XP Pro IIS Admin tool from www.jetstat.com.
