Hello,

Up to now I've always worked in WinXP, SQLServer 2005 and IIS 6.0 - seldomly a problem installing DNN and all is straight forward...

Just got a new machine, installed Win 7 Ultimate, SQLServer 2008, Visual Studio 2010, all service packs and patches...as well as IIS 7.5 (actually, the "about" cites 2 versions: 6.1 AND 7.5.7600 someone and MS forgot to edit something...)

I've used to setting up the DNN folder, unpackaging, applying permissions (including aspnet_wp user) then the db and running through the DNN installation "wizard"

NOW I cannot seem to find the aspnet_wp account to add to folder permissions AND the aspnet_wp process does not seem to be running either.

Being completely new to Windows 7 and the latest IIS etc, I know I'm flying by night SO would like someone to point me at a post/instruction on setting this up.

Thanks

Have follow Michael Washington's intructions here: http://www.adefwebserver.com/dotnetnu...

to the letter!

Keep getting this:

Connection Error(s):
Index #: 0
Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider
Class: 14
Number: 18456
Message: Sql login failed

Looked through and have re-created the database with all permissions I know to set AND added the user specified in the intructions.

To no avail.

Please advise - Anyone?

Thanks

Hi.
Under Win7 you must give Network Service the full permission to the folder.
Regarding your DB i assume following:
- you switch to "SQL-Server" during installation and as the hostname you use ..\sqlexpress
- don't use integrated security but give the name and the password during installation; this user must be the owner of the db and must be in role dbo
- switch your sql-express to mixed-mode authentication
At least this was working for me on my Win7Ultimate machine.

Cheers

Kai
