There is definately a problem with the 5.6.0 Upgrade. I attempted to Upgrade a number of my 5.5.1 Sites that are Hosted on a Dedicated Server at PowerDNN and I had problems with every one of them.

I had the same problem with the Site not loading correctly unless you clicked on the "Return to Site" botton which essentially adds the Default.aspx ending to the URL.

I figured out the by switching the Sites from ASP.NET 4.0 back to ASP.NET 2.0 under IIS and then removing this text (requestValidationMode="2.0") from one line in the Web.Config (I get a New Error Message if I dont' remove that text) I could get my Site to load normally. The only problem is that now I've got Modules that require ASP.NET 4.0 that are loaded on a few of the Sites that will not work correctly. Someone needs to fix this problem ASAP.

P.S. If I switch the Sites back to ASP.NET 4.0 they become broken again. I played around with this for a couple hours to nail down exactly what was causing this problem.

Thanks Kevin,

I did this "switching the Sites from ASP.NET 4.0 back to ASP.NET 2.0 under IIS and then removing this text (requestValidationMode="2.0") from one line in the Web.Config " and it fixed the problem.

To Yannis;

From which DNN version are you upgrading.
Did you "Unblock' the zip file before you ran it on your site?
Are you using a Hosting Provider to host your site?

Thx,

Thx,

I was upgrading DNN 5.5.1 to 5.6.0 on a number of sites, about 8. Every single one of them ended up with the exact same problem.

The Upgrade Process seems to work fine, it's just what happens AFTER you click on the "Click Here to View Your Portal". You try to load your Site and you end up with an Error Page with a "Return to Site" Button that if Clicked will take you to the Site, you just can't get the Site to load the Default.aspx by itself.

I ran a Repair of IIS using PowerDNN's Control Panel as well as a Permissions Check, I also Checked the Home Page settings to make sure that the Default.aspx Page was listed, I even moved it to the top entry and tried it, and then removed all the other ones and tried it, but nothing worked to fix the problem. I re-started the IIS Web Service in between each of my attempts to fix it as well to make sure the changes were recognized.
