I am about to create a company dnn site.

The web server is located in the data-center dmz, but the links to the internal network are low bandwidth (2Mb SDSL - but that carries VIOP, email etc).

The only way I can see to get adequate performance from the application is to have the sql server (express 2008) located on the same box as the web server (win 2008r2). I intend to restrict the sql server to local connections only.

Does anyone see any critical security issues with this configuration? Are there better options? I'm not particularly happy with this scenario, but until I can get access to a sql server in the data-center I might just be stuck with this.

Comments appreciated,

Brett

many websites are running on smaller servers or VPS with SQL server installed locally. make sure to use secure passwords and ideally don't expose your sql server ports to the web.
