Hi,

My first portal is working great from www.[mywebsite].com
my child portal is working great from www.[mywebsite].com/[mychildportal]

Now, i make changes to get [mychildportal] to [myparentportal] :

- I add the alias [myparentportal] to my DNS hosting (and I wait 1 hour...)
- From SQL Table PortalAlias, I change the record from www.[mywebsite].com/[mychildportal] to [myparentportal].[mywebsite].com
- I save my web.config file to reset cache
- I test http://[myparentportal].[mywebsite].com

The test is failed, I get a 404 error page...

Have you got an idea ? I'm disappointed !

For information :
- all my parent portals redirect to 404.
- if i create parent portal directly from host > portals, same issue 404

Thanks a lot.
Etienne.

if you switch to a parent portal, the new address will be www.myparentportal.com or you need to add myparentportal.mywebsite.com into your name server and as host header to the IIS web site (if there are multiple sites on the server).

Thank you sebastian, that's right, I mentioned the host header from IIS and it's working great now.
That's strange because I changed my DNS, and from my old domain, I didn't have to write host header to be functional.

Host headers are needed, if there are multiple web sites on a server, otherwise requests will be routed to the default web site.
