I've spent quite a while trying to find the system requirements document for DNN and much to my surprise, there doesn't seem to be one.   Am I missing something?

Having just moved to a new server with the latest version of DNN - I guessed it was time to move to the latest version of ASP.NET and MSSQL (I was only a version behind so not a big move).

This thread suggested that it was a simple move, but my experience doesn't suggest that it is that simple and when I started to look a little deeper, it seems there are many potential pitfalls in the config with ASP.NET 4.

Of course my problem could be nothing to do with ASP.NET 4.  So I guess my questions are:-

Should I be doing this?
Does DNN 5.6.0 work with ASP.NET 4 and if not, what is the recommended platform?
Is there a script to 'fix' my web.config as Sebastian suggests, is it official, where is it and who built it?

I have shifted numerous installations from .Net 2.0 to .Net 4.0 AppPools.  DotNetNuke does support .Net but it is possible that a third party module may be causing problems or that there is something unique in your configuration that doesn't appear in any of our QA installations.

Can you provide a list of the portal aliases as listed in the PortalAlias table of your site?

I have moved 3 DNN 5.6 to Net4 and seem more stable. No 3rd party modules but just YAF forums.

one thing to check is to ensure that the account the website is using has permissions to update the web.config (and that the web.config is not marked as readonly), as when the application detects that it is running under .net 4.0 it updates the web.config to ensure that the site runs as expected.
