Hello,

I installed DNN 5.6 on the production server and now i have finished the site also. My client needs to go live my site. But one problem.

When I go to the main domain name (say www.example.com) it is giving me the following error.

DotNetNuke Error

Windows Vista

Return to Site

But If I access (www.example.com/default.aspx) then the site is working properly. But we can not tell to users to go to dafault.aspx . and we need to give the domain name. I think my issue is clear now.

Please can you advice me to solve this. This is very important now.
I am thinking 2 ways to solve this for now. But this is not a real solution. But just a temp solution.
One thing is downgrading to 5.5.1 version. This version is working perfectly. But I do not know how to downgrade now. I have already developed the site now.
Second thing is using re-writing url method in the host panel. If someone comes to www.domain.com then redirect to www.domain.com/default.aspx  . But I do not know how to write this.

Anyway Please can you advice me how to fix this issue.

Thanks

I am having the same issue and have found very little resources to fix. Did you find a fix....did DNN ever respond with anything? Thanks!

I have upgraded some problem sites to DNN 5.6.1 RC build - I know it's an RC build but I simply had to solve this situation since the sites were not working at all, so you might want to try the upgrade. (backing up first of course) I can confirm it has solve this problem... and has some nice url features too. Nina Meiers
