Recycle bin is empty as it is a new install and I have done nothing to it.

HOWEVER I HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE - HERE IS HOW:

1. Did a new typical install of 01
2. login as Host
3. goto search results page.
4. Add a new search result module under the existing module.
5. Delete the original search results module
6. goto recycle bin and remove the deleted one.

then it magically works  - simply by replacing the current search module - who would have thought!!!!
(But it just goes to show that 01 out of the box doesnt)

I've had to do the same thing.  Clean install of 5.6.1.

I have had the same search problem on both our live site and our staging servers all version 5.6.1. The steps above got our search results working, thanks for that. But I am still having a problem with the Search Crawler Results control; it is still reporting No Index Found.

This solution worked for me too.
I have a typical new install of 5.6.2.
I noticed when viewing Settings in the Results Module that is built in to the regular install on the "Search Results" page that it is a ContentList module instead of an expected Search Results Module. I assume this is why the solution works. I have older versions 5.4.4 that it appears I had to go in an fix like this and then forgot I had to do it. So, it seems like this has been a issue for a while. Shouldn't the new install pakages get this remedy?
Cheers,
Joel
