Hi...i m a new user of dotnet nuke....i'm currently using dotnetnuke 5.5.1..
i have extracted the content and i use visual web developer to open the dnn..
at first time it was installed in auto..
then i developed a module..and used the default database.mdf file in app_data folder..
after that when i debug the dnn i m redirected to the installation page!! http://localhost:49369/dnn/Install/In... and this message is written in red:---
"The Auto option has been disabled as the DotNetNuke Application cannot connect to a valid SQL Server database. You can continue to use either of the other two Wizard options and configure the Database settings at the appropriate Wizard step"

Once you have attached to the Database.mdf database using MS SQL Server Management Studio or VS during your module development, DotNetNuke will no longer be able to connect to this database file. Please see the following blog post by Shawn Mehaffie for more information and in particular how you should modify the DotNetNuke connection strings (in web.config) to regain access to the database:

I do not recommend setting up DotNetNuke using Database.mdf for any purposes other than a quick test installation for this reason.

You should avoid using the database.mdf file like the plague.
Setup full mssql express 2008 instance on your development computer instead.
You will have much much much less agro all round.
