I am trying to redirect a user to their profile page after they login. I do not see an option in the user settings. is there a way around this, outside of purchasing a mod to do so?

Thanks,

Sean

This is where I am trying to make the change, but I do not see an option to select the DNN profile from the drop down box. Any suggestions?

ah, no theres not an easy way as the profile page is virtualised, you can force it to redirect there if a user doesn't have a full profile by using the 'require a valid profile for login". Please submit an enhancement request for the ability to redirect to the profile page to support.dotnetnuke.com and hopefully it'll be added in a future release.

Actually in the latest version of DNN the User Profile page is not virtualized - only the User Rego page is virtualized by default - the user profile page is a real page and  it is there in the Admin -> pages its just marked as Do Not Include in Menu.

The reason why the User Profile page is NOT shown in the Redirect on Login dropdown of the User Accounts -> User Settings page is simply that  the this dropdown only shows pages that are marked as Include in Menu.  Ideally what should happen in the core is that - this page dropdown needs to be modified to show ALL pages - not just those in a menu.

There are a couple of legacy reasons why the user profile page is marked as dont show in menu  - and also some UI reasons - most people prefer to access the user profile ONLY from the User / Login widget - and in the past the Registration view and the User Profile view were indeed virtualized in the same module - and a lot of odd stuff used to occur with redirectors and such - so it was not good page to have visible on a menu.  This has changed a lot in recent versions however.

Depending on your site - there are a couple of different ways to achieve what you want - but basically they all revolve around making the User Profile visible in the menu in some way.

The simplest option is to open you Admin -> Pages list - in this list you will see the User Profile page listed - assuming you are running the latest dnn version.

Edit the settings for this page and turn on Include in Menu - also by default the settings for this page will most likely be set to View - All Users -- change this to View - Registered Users only.   We then usually move the page to be a child of the Home page or some other relevant menu on your site.   Do understand that the User Profile will now become a menu item visible to all registered users.

Once this is done - you can now select this page from the Redirect on Login drop down located in the User Settings page.

If you really dont want the user profile to appear on your menu - but still want to redirect to it - there is also a trick to achieving this.
The pages dropdown in the user settings will show you a list of all pages marked as Include in Menu.  But it does not actually check if the parent of this page is marked the same way.

As such - you could create a page called say - View - and move your User Profile to a child of this page you still need to mark the User Profile page as Include in Menu - but you mark the View page as dont include in menu -  this will hide BOTH pages from the Menu system - but the dropdown in the user settings will still see the User Profile page because it is marked as include in menu.

But seriously - this is kinda a dumb work around for a dropdown that just doesnt show all pages - if you look at the redirector option on any page - it shows all pages - just seems like something that should be fixed.

Having said that - the work around listed here will do exactly what you are looking for.
